Canda Ala Sufi

Canda Ala Sufi

By: Nashruddin

[download]

The Bumper B3ta Book of Sick Jokes

The Bumper B3ta Book of Sick Jokes

Compiled By: Rob Manuel

Oh dear God, how are we supposed to introduce this? In your hands you are holding the most depraved, foul and offensive collection of jokes collected in one book. You’re probably expecting us to write something to justify this collection aren’t you? Something erudite and wordy that explains that these jokes are a reflection of society’s pressure points and fears? Nope. Sorry. You’ll have to look elsewhere for that stuff, for we know the sordid truth: Sick jokes are guilty pleasures shared when you think no one who may be offended is listening. And we’ve got the whole damn lot of them. Even the ones where they said, “No, you can’t print that, they’ll fire-bomb the publishers”. But don’t worry. If you do find yourself getting nauseated, just turn to the ‘panic page’ on p 168 where we’ve stuck some nice fluffy jokes and a picture of a kitten. See? All better now. Enjoy the book!. [download]

You Can’t Be Serious-Putting Humor to Work

You Can’t Be Serious-Putting Humor to Work

By: Michael Kerr

Humor in the workplace is the Rodney Dangerfield of buman resources management. Like the tie tugging, fidgeting comedian, the topic just doesn’t seem to get any respec. In fact, when I suggest that people should add copious amounts of humor to their work lives, many people react with disbelief. “You want us to what?” make work more fun? Lighten up on the job? Mix business with pleasure? But, work isn’t supposed to be fun.” These indignant folks respond. ‘That’s why we call it work. In fact, that’s why work is a four letter word. And you want us to add humor to our work lives? Surely, YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS?”. And when these folks tell me, “You can’t be serious!” abaout idea of putting ommor to work. I cleverly respond with, “You are absolutely right, you can’t be serious!” in fact, that’s the entire point of this book. [download]

51 High Tech Practical Jokes

51 High Tech Practical Jokes

By: Brad Graham and Kathy McGowan

This book was written for all those who feel the irresistible urge to break open the case to see what makes that appliance or electronic device work. “There are no user serviceable parts inside,” or “disassembly will void the warranty” are phrases that simply fuel the fire for us hardware-hacking Evil Geniuses. The ability to make an electronic or mechanical device do things that it was not intended for is a skill that is easily learned by anyone who is not afraid to put his or her crazy ideas to the test, and possibly blow a few fuses or fry a few circuits along the way. You do not need an engineering degree or a room full of sophisticated tools to become a successful hardware hacker, just the desire to create, a good imagination and a large pile of junk to experiment with. Foolosophy-Humor is The Key To A Healthy Mind

Foolosophy-Humor is The Key To A Healthy Mind

By: Darrel Ruocco

If you can develop your sense of humor and learn to laugh at yourself daily, I guarantee you will feel like the most successful person on Earth. The only problem with this advice is it is coming to you from the biggest fool/failure that ever lived. But in my mind, it only proves how effective humor and laughing at oneself can be to overcome everything in life, even our own thoughts and feeling of being worthless. It is the beautiful expression coined on Saturday Night Live (SNL), “I’m not worthy…” In foolosophy, everyone is worthy of being laughed at with the proper love and intention. Foolosophy is humanity’s coming out party and everyone tells me it is time for a shift to a higher consciousness beyond our five senses. The two primary senses in foolosophy are our sense of play and our sense of humor which takes us back to the roots of our greatness…. [download]

American Humor

American Humor

By: Arthur Power Dudden

In 1888 Samuel Langhorne Clemens, William Dean Howells, and Charles Hopkins Clark combined their talents to publish Mark Twain’s Library of Humor. Howells who was powerfully struck by the richness of the indigenous lode they had uncovered, was led to observe: “Smack of whom it would, it has always been so racy of the soil that the native flavor prevails throughout, and whether Yankee, Knickerbocker, Southern Californian, refined or broad, prose, verse, or newspaper, it was and is always American.”1 Their hefty anthology was “a monument,” as Clarence Gohdes recognized in his later foreword to the volume on its being reissued, “to the collaboration of the chief American humorist and the first of our great critics to maintain that humor should be a source of pride to all who appraise the contribution of the United States to the world’s store of literature. Civil War Humor

Civil War Humor

By: Cameron C. Nickels

The war from 1861 to 1865 coincided and had much to do with furthering the modernization of an inexpensive print mass medium, a phenomenon of popular culture that would not be equaled for a century, when another war would do the same for the video medium. In each case, the medium responded to the interest in the war at the same time that it mediated that interest and co-modified it. In the North telegraphy meant that the latest news could be made available for eager and anxious consumers, while railroads delivered illustrations from the battle front. Of the war fever that infected non-combatants eager for information, “It is not a breathless courier who comes back with the report of the army we have lost sight of for a month, nor a single bulletin which tells us all we are to know for a week of some great engagement,” Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote in September 1861. Mathematics and Humor

Mathematics and Humor

By: John Allen Paulos

The Talmud says, “Begin a lesson with a humorous illustration.” This is especially apt here, since discussions of humor are often ponderous and grim, and since this one, though of a quite different sort, is not altogether an exception. A friend of mine-a mathematician, incidentally-recently completed a speed-reading course, and he noted this in a letter to his mother. His mother responded with a long, chatty letter in the middle of which she wrote, “Now that you’ve taken that speed-reading course, you’ve probably already finished reading this letter.” What this illustrates about my friend’s mother may be clearer than what it illustrates about mathematics and humor, but then I have a whole book to explain the latter. Humor and The Healing Arts

Humor and The Healing Arts

Publisher By: Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, Inc.

It is a popular notion that medical settings are as hostile to humor as to germs. The sterile atmosphere makes one get better, but feel worse. This is a paradox not to be suffered, said Norman Cousins (1976, 1979), Raymond Moody (1978), Bernie Siegel (1983), and others. With the visibility of their many best-sellers, these advocates of healthy laughter have spawned enthusiasm for humor in the healing arts. There is evidence that their ideas are catching on. Between 1988 and 1992, the nonprofit HUMOR Project in New York awarded grants to launch 125 humor programs in hospitals, nursing homes, and other agencies (Suchetka, 1992). This study represents an effort to identify the emerging roles of humor in health care. Although it is shown here that confidence in medical humor is growing, it is also true that much uncertainty still surrounds the issue. [download]

Benjamin Franklin’s Humor

Benjamin Franklin’s Humor

By: Paul M. Zall

They used to say that George Washington was first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen, and Franklin was first in everything else. But at the nation’s bicentennial, the mass-circulating Reader’s Digest replaced Washington in the hearts of his countrymen with Ben Franklin because Franklin represented what Americans liked best about themselves.1 If Washington was the father of his countrymen, Franklin was their foxy grandpa, the designated humorist they could always rely on for a sharp saying or merry tale with the “Magical power” to cool the heat and dispel “melancholy fumes.”2 Franklin could have called himself a doctor, diplomat, electrician, frontier general, insurance man, inventor, legislator, librarian, magistrate, newsman, postmaster, promoter, or publisher, but in his will, he called himself merely “printer.” [download]

Führen mit Humor

Führen mit Humor

By: Gerhard Schwart

[download]

101 American English Riddles

101 American English Riddles

By: Harry Collis

In 101 American English Riddles, the solutions and the humor to many of the riddles come from tha language itself. English ini particular has many words with more than one meaning. Consequently, these words constitute a vast store house of material from which a riddle may originate; for ecample: “How can a leopard change his spots?” Answer: “Move from place to place.” The word spot can mean a “mark or stain,” like the black spots on the coat of a leopard. It can also mean a “particular physical location.” 101 American English Riddles include ,amy types of language based humor: The humor in some riddles lies in knowing the meaning of an idiomatic expression. Some riddles have words that sound alike, but have different spellings and cosequently, different meanings. [download]
