Mechanics of Impression Evidence

Mechanics of Impression Evidence

By: David S. Pierce

This is a small book about big topics that applies to the larger concern of evidence. The topics are mostly new to forensics even though the principles are common enough in scientific circles. The subject matter consists of unique observations regarding specific circumstances that are intended to generate more questions than they answer. The style of writing was chosen with serious practitioners, students, members of the legal profession, and laypeople in mind. While the content does not shy away from the science that is the future of forensic practice, the topics are mostly simple. The purpose of this approach first is to share observations and discoveries and second, perhaps more important, to inspire practitioners and students to look beyond what is known to perform intuition based research; finally, the book encourages the sharing of findings that is hoped will generate a more unified approach to the topic.
